Hakeem Fateh Muhammad Sehwani: The Legendary Poet & Politician of Sindh

Hakeem Fateh Muhammad Sehwani was born in the year of 1882 at Sehwan SharifSindh province. He was believed to be the renowned scholar, intellectual poet, literary, journalist and politician of Sindh province.

Biography of Hakeem Fateh Muhammad Sehwani

Hakeem Fateh Muhammad Sehwani got his early education in Persian and Arabic languages. Then, he became the student of Molvi Mohammad Umer Channa and Molvi Atta Mohammad at Mehar, the famous named teachers of Sindh. He qualified from Madrasa at 21. He then launched his own Madrasa at Shah Sadar, Sewhan and practiced as Tibb which was his ancestral profession.
Hakeem Fateh Mohammad Sehwani was then appointed as teacher of Persian at a Madarsa which was previously owned by Syed Allah Aando Shah within the short span of time.
Afterwards, Hakeem Fateh Muhammad Sehwani took active part in political activities under the right guidance of Syed Allah Aando Shah.
This iconic personality was believed to be one of the main leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind and greatest opponent of the English Empire in the Indian subcontinent. He also served the nation as the secretary of Jamiat ul Ulima (Sindh). Maulana Sahab was active worker and secretary of Khilafat Movement in Sindh. He started a moderate Madarsa for teaching Arabic and Persian languages and a Matabb at Karachi city, which was a place of gathering for party workers.
He was also a passionate journalist. He released a famous magazine “Al Islam and Aljamia” from Karachi in the year of 1925. This magazine was released in basically 3 languages i.e.  Sindhi, English and Arabic, all at a time.
Hakeem Fateh Mohammad Sehwani wrote many books on several topics. His inspirational book “Bahar e Ikhlaq” is collection of poems. Sehwani initially used “Sagheer” and late “Hakeem” as his pen name.
He breathed last on the day of 13 December 1942.
